Inventor Jerome Case founded the company of CASE within Racine, when he started the construction of threshing machines. Later the company gained recognition internationally as the first maker of steam engines for its agricultural use. Eventually, the business grew to become the world's largest producers of steam engines.
Case had established themselves in the construction machinery business by 1912. They became a manufacturer of road building machinery including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction equipment business through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation during 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top producer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machines.
Case merged with the company New Holland in 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This company became responsible for marketing some of the top brands of agricultural and construction machinery in the world.
Case has been responsible for many industry firsts, while continuing to this day to take a role creating new solutions and products for the materials handling business.
