Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Hydraulic cranes are one of the most commonly used types of crane within the construction business. They are used to build everything from roadways and freeway overpasses to buildings and skyscrapers.
Cranes come in a wide range of units, styles and sizes. These various units allow both the owner and operators to execute many more functions in their business. Choosing the best kind of crane is vital for making sure that the material could be transported safely and efficiently to the location it has to get to in order for the construction process to begin.
Truck Cranes
Truck cranes will typically have 2 different cabs. One cab is utilized to drive the truck unit when in transport mode, whilst the other is for controlling the crane. These cranes are really helpful for building locations where a crane is needed in many different places for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane can be driven easily from one location to another.
Cranes can also be transported to different construction sites on the road as they drive themselves, which eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own greatly reduces transport costs at the end of the day.
The truck crane on the other hand is not stable enough to handle all the major loads which a hydraulic crane can handle. Thus, to be able to fix this issue, outriggers could be extended from the deck. The outriggers make use of hydraulic pressure to be able to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it stable and balanced.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has big tracks on the bottom of the crane. These huge tracks are very similar to bulldozers and backhoes. The tracks enable the crane to successfully move around a construction locations.
