Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names like: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of equipment are basically a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Rider" versions as well as "Walkie" models.
Like what the name implies, the walkie type is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit as they move cargo. The Rider model on the other hand, utilizes a small platform wherein the operator stands on. The rider models are ideal for frequent moving of loads over extended distances in warehouses and manufacturing applications. They are highly maneuverable and fast.
It is important to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and hence, it is not recommended to transport tall or unstable loads with these machines. A rider could be the right answer if you are looking for an inexpensive method for transporting cargo from one location to another. If though, you should move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the right option.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machinery is specifically made for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the operator and the load with a purpose to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are typically very narrow aisle vehicles that can work in aisles of less than six feet. They are really handy pieces of equipment during cycle counting situations as well as in physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more popular.
