Different Kinds of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a specialized type of heavy machine which enables personnel to be lifted into the air. These machines could be used to perform maintenance and repairs in areas which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Similar to nearly all devices, there are various kinds of aerial lifts that could be used to carry out a variety of jobs. For the utmost safety, each kind of different type of machine needs right training and specific qualifications before operation.
Scissor Lifts
Genie lifts are another name for scissor lifts. These machinery are the most basic type of aerial lift available. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up by means of pneumatic power and are mostly utilized for indoor applications. Normally, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to big carts. Normally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone could utilize these devices, employees should be licensed as operators.
Boom Lifts
The boom lift is a much more complicated kind of aerial lift machinery compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift normally has a much wider base in order to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket which allows the operator to lower and lift the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a tail of a metal scorpion. Usually, it is used in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run than scissor lifts, thus, operators need to be certified separately for these kinds of lifts.
