Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to store supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck is available in several types: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is frequently used. This version has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular version is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is needed within warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could make the most of available storage space while increasing productivity.
