Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machinery designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is typically located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are usually used for jobs which require tasks to be carried out at heights that exceed other types of lifts. For example, employees are able to carry out exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but using these lifts rather than having the extra work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The bucket of the boom lift usually just holds one employee. These buckets are better suited to particular jobs like electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Beneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these types of machines must be positioned directly below the work location, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
The scissor lift typically has a larger platform which enables the operator to control the lift to access a larger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, because they need to sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for window installation or cladding, because they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a great option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle normally used to raise workers for various jobs done at heights. Typically, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the machinery. There is a bucket for where the employee could stand along with a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Boom trucks take personnel to heights which would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy materials or equipment from one place to another. There are various kinds of cranes which could perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at various jobs and are great for particular applications and completing particular tasks.
